Yesterday was the Cologne Night Run (10,5 km), the race was really cool, though in the beginning I had some trouble starting. I sometimes like to start way in the back and work myself to the front. This time I did so. From about 3000 participants, I was one of the last starters. What I didn’t anticipate was that there were so many narrow paths in the beginning. I had to wrestle my way through and on the stairs (there were a few of them) many people decided to walk up… slowly. So I lost a lot of time during the first 3-4 kms. After that it was getting better. In the end I finished in 53:04 (401st out of 1542 men), which is an average of 5:03min/km, which is only 6-7 secs/km faster than the average of my half marathon a few days earlier.
After running with my first running group this week, I’m thinking about joining another group which does a bit of harder training (including intervals). Let’s see. My weight was at 82,0 kg the next morning, which made me happy since I had something around 85,4 kg a week ago. (But I suppose this is mostly water weight and I think I ate a LOT last week when I weighed myself.)
